The best thobe for summer: fabric, fit and value in 2026
How to pick a lightweight, breathable thobe that keeps its shape — plus the retailers we compared this month.
A summer thobe lives or dies by its fabric. When temperatures climb, a 140gsm cotton-poplin thobe wears very differently to a 260gsm nida.
What to look for
Fabric weight (gsm). Aim for 120-160gsm for peak summer and 180-210gsm for shoulder seasons. Cotton, linen and cotton-linen blends breathe best.
Cut. A straight A-line skims the body without clinging, and a slightly cropped sleeve keeps you cool during wudu without breaking modesty guidance.
Finishing. Look for French seams, a Milanese collar and matte buttons — the small tells that separate a budget thobe from a premium one.
